At the entrance to our marina, there lives a large flock of seagulls that keeps  guard and no one enters or leaves our little cove without their yea or nay. You might wonder what difference it would make if a seagull  approves or dissapproves of your moorage but I am here to tell you that many a sailor has bemoaned the consequences of ignoring the courtesy of asking moorage permissions from  these mascots of the sea.
