WHERE THE HEART MEETS THE SEA

The sound of crashing waves, the glow of sunlight through the wave's crest and the myriad of colors has been enough to keep artists inspired for thousands of years; myself included. I love everything about the water, the sounds, the smell, the motion and the colors. I have painted scenes from "my" beach, on Whidbey Island, numerous times and each time I try to convey the sense of awe I feel when I am close to the water. This painting was inspired by a recent storm. As is usual for me, I snapped up the camera and went dashing off to the beach so I could get right in the middle of the mix.  The winds were so strong even the seagulls seemed to be having a tough time making headway.  The Cascade Mountain Range can be seen nestled in the background.
